Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The Foundation Stage applies to children from three years of age to the end of the reception year. We have 20 full time nursery places with 12 part time morning and 12 part time afternoon places.

Our reception has two classes and offers parents full time places for their children from September if they wish to take it up. Key Stage 1 begins for our children at the beginning of Year 1.

The Foundation Stage is important in its own right, and in preparing children for later schooling. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum sets out what is expected of most children by the end of the Foundation Stage.

Some of the children joining our school have already learnt a great deal whilst others have had limited experiences. A few have been to one of the pre school settings that exist in our community.

The early years education we offer our children is based on the following principles:

  • A unique child
  • Positive relationships
  • Enabling environments
  • Learning and development
